Pilot Gear Compare is a small comparison site for airline and general aviation pilots. It is run by a working airline pilot.
Who runs this site
Pilot Gear Compare is run by a working airline pilot who wanted one place to compare the gear crews and GA pilots actually talk about — headsets, crew rollers, flight bags, layover sleep kit, uniform clothing, and trip power. The site is independent: it is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any airline, employer, union, or manufacturer.
How we pick
Picks come from three kinds of public information:
- Public pilot discussion — recurring themes in public pilot and crew forums and in published aviation coverage.
- Manufacturer specs — weight, warranty, TSO status, dimensions, battery life, and similar published details.
- Retailer listings — what is actually available to buy, in which variant, and roughly what it costs.
We don’t do hands-on lab testing. We don’t run noise measurements, drop tests, or long-term wear trials, and we don’t claim to. Where something is uncertain — live prices, fleet plug standards, company headset or uniform policy — the product card says so instead of guessing.
Labels like “Top pick” or “Good for / Skip if” summarize the pros and cons listed on each card. They are not star ratings or scores, and no brand pays for placement.

Each comparison page shows when it was last reviewed and a short note on what changed. If a spec, link, or price range looks wrong, treat the retailer or manufacturer page as the source of truth.
