Home General Aviation E6B & Fuel Testers
E6B Flight Computers and Fuel Testers
Two training and preflight tools GA pilots ask about: a flight computer for the knowledge test and flight planning, and a fuel tester for the preflight sump. Three E6Bs and three testers, with maker specs and Amazon prices. Treat an E6B as a test-day and training tool; many pilots plan on an EFB in practice.

Flight computers (E6B)
Test-day and training tool. A 2025 r/flying poll comment counted 33 of 205 DPEs (about 16%) who required or asked for E6B use on the checkride. Some test centers supply their own. A manual wheel plus a basic calculator is a legitimate alternative.
